Ferguson, 25, is from Lantzville on Vancouver Island and played for Dinamo Minsk of the KHL last season, posting a 2.51 goals-against-average and a .904 save percentage in 23 games.
Ferguson is 6-foot-2 and was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the seventh round in 2017.
Ferguson has played in three career NHL games — one for the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017-18 and two for the Ottawa Senators in 2022-23.

With starting goaltender Thatcher Demko’s return to full health to begin the season still in question, the Canucks have kicked the tires on veteran free agent goaltenders Kevin Lankinen and Antti Raanta, to no avail.
Without Demko, back-up goaltender Arturs Silovs, 23, and free-agent acquisition Jiri Petera, 25, who has logged just eight NHL games, could be the opening-night tandem.
With Demko, Silovs, Patera, Nikita Tolopilo, Ty Young, Jonathan Lemieux and Ferguson, the Canucks now have six goaltenders set to participate in training camp, with Demko likely doing work on his own.
The Canucks have less than US$200,000 in salary-cap space.
